Carlos Fuentes (from Rules of Attraction by Simone Elkeles )
I haven’t done a dream boyfriend article in a while, so I’ll try to take it slow with a character most of you are familiar with. I guess there are not too many people that haven’t swooned over a Fuentes brother in the past years, so here goes Carlos, Alex’s brother (aka Fuentes brother number two).
I must confess that his lines sounded better when I read them alone, but hey, a bit of cheesiness never hurts!
“I’m in deep shit Alex, ’cause I think I’d like nothin’ better than to wake up with her every mornin’.”
PROS:
#1: He can be the romantic type (when not too cheesy):
“You’re dangerous. “he says.
“Why?”
“Because you make me believe in the impossible.”
#2: He is really funny:
“If any guy threatened her she’d probably suffocate him with her oversized tee.”
#3: No, scratch that, hilarious might be the right word:
‘Do you play football?’ Brandon asks.
‘No.’
‘Baseball?’
‘Nope.’
Brandon is on a roll and won’t stop until he’s found the answer he’s looking for. ‘Tennis?’
‘That would be a nada.’
‘Then what sport do you play?’
Carlos puts down his food. Oh, no. He’s got a rebellious gleam in his eye as he says, ‘The horizontal tango.’
#4: He is so hot that everyone notices. And I mean everyone:
“This is a team of gay dudes, isn’t it?”
“What gave it away? The pink shirts, or half our team drooling over you?”
#5: And sometimes he is just so full of… it (in a good way, off course):
“You think I’ve got a big ego and an attitude problem?”
“I don’t think you do, Carlos. I know it. Unfortunately, it’s a Fuentes flaw.”
“I’d call it an asset. It’s what makes us Fuentes brothers irresistible.”
#6: But underneath all those big words there’s a big heart beating, and if you try for long enough, you can even hear it:
“I wish I could help you” I whisper.
“You are,” he murmurs against my knee. “just dont leave me, okay? Everyone leaves me.”
CONS:
Except for the his cheesiness which is not necessarily a flaw, I think that learning from his brother’s mistakes would have been pretty damn nice:
” Didn’t you learn anything from my mistakes?” he asks.
Shit, when Alex was in the Latino Blood back in Chicago I worshiped him. “You don’t want to hear my answer to that.”
So, why Kuno Becker?
If you’re asking yourself ‘Kuno who?’ don’t worry, I am pretty much unsure who this guy might be. But he appeared in my search for hot mexicans and he has the look I had in mind for Carlos, so… go on! You can swoon over him as much as you want!
